First up is the Siyaya, meaning 'On The Move'. Siyaya is a name coined by the South African taxi industry for the Toyota Hi-Ace. My earliest memories of the Siyaya was on my morning commutes to school, sitting in traffic in the school bus driving down Ottery road, when we'd hear the bass coming from a Paradise 4 Teenz taxi. These taxis were popular for their elaborate sound systems which could be heard playing "YAADT" from a mile away. The Toyota Hi-Ace was first introduced in 1967 as a
Next up we have the BMW E30, or as we like to call it, the "GUSHESHE" which means "very fast". Although today any E30 3-series is referred to as a Gusheshe, the name actually belongs to the E30 325is, as it is fast and nimble. The gusheshe gained a great appreciation in South African townships because of its rear-wheel drive and ease to control, which made it easy for spinning. The E30 is the second generation of the BMW series, which was produced from 1982 to 1994. The E30 was also the first
Last but not least, and my favourite of the lot, we have the Nissan 1400, or better known as the "Champ". My love for the Champ began at a very young age. I often attended drag racing events hosted at Killarney, and the most exciting passes were always made by these little bakkies on massive, meaty, drag slick tires, launching hard off the line, lifting the two front wheels off the ground, and getting swirly on the back end of the track. It was ever since that I knew one day I had to own one.

South African heroes
(2021)

This series explores some of the iconic nicknames of vehicles that are synonymous with South African car culture. These vehicles hold a special place in my heart as they helped shape my taste not only for cars, but also for art, music, and culture.

MSWenko Challenge
(2020)

My Submission for the Polo Vivo Mswenko Challange hosted by VW, Yay Abe, and Galxboy.

For the competition, we were required to create something that shows what Mswenko means to us.
The competition had over 300 entries and my illustration got chosen as one of the top 15 finalists.

"Mswenko is more than just style, it is an expression of attitude and confidence.
My design style is reminiscent of the two worlds that inspire me: my religious and cultural roots, and the ever-evolving streets of the western world."
roots & wings
(2020)

Arabic translation:"Blessed be that which give your children roots and wings"

There is a place in the world where we are born, where we learn our mother tongue and discover how our ancestors overcame the problems they faced in their time. These are our roots.
Our wings reveal to us endless horizons of imagination, they carry us to our dreams and to distant places. It is our wings that allow us to know the roots of our fellow men and to learn from them.

This piece was for a task during my final year in university. The brief was to create a cover for The Lake magazine by researching areas of influence and inspiration such as African contemporary art and create a visual ideation process to develop an original, unique and arresting illustration.
